Indigenous participation

Indigenous ownership and leadership

KANTEL is owned and led by members of First Nations. Work awarded to KANTEL generates Indigenous economic participation calculated on the value of the work actually performed.

The calculation

How participation is calculated

On the work we perform ourselves.

Not on the total value of the contract. The calculation is broken out line by line, in a form your auditors can follow.

Ownership and leadership

The people who own the company sit on the board and hold the executive positions. Ownership and control are not a structure assembled for a bid.

An identity, not a selling point

KANTEL’s Indigenous identity rests on its ownership, its leadership and its history. It is part of how the company is positioned, and it is not decoration.

Contracting arrangements

Set-asides, subcontracting and joint venture are set out on the Procurement page, along with the supplier information.

Training and employment

KANTEL trains Indigenous talent across all of its functions, from engineering to field operations.

Reported participation rests on real jobs, held by people who live in the communities concerned. That is what separates economic participation from ownership on paper.
